The 127 acres of parkland forming the racecourse of today have panoramic country views and are surrounded by ancient trees. The tattersalls Offers an excellent view of racing and access to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure. The track is a mostly flat left-handed oval of around 1 mile 5 furlongs with a very slight rise on the run-in. There are courses for flat racing and National Hunt racing.

Notable Races Flat Races: Haydock Sprint Cup
The Sprint Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a straight distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in early September. It was first run in 1966 and was originally run on the last day of the season in November, switching to September in 1979. Two-year-olds were eligible to run in the race prior to 1980, with both Be Friendly (1966) and The Blues (1973) winning as juveniles. Before the opening of the straight six-furlongs at Haydock in 1986, the race was run on the round course. The Sprint Cup was promoted to Group 1 status in 1988.

Lancashire Oaks
The Lancashire Oaks is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbred fillies and mares. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 3 furlongs and 200 yards (2,396 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in July. From 1939 to 1963 the race was run at Manchester Racecourse over a distance of 1 mile 3 furlongs. There was no race in 1964 after the closure of Manchester and it was transferred to Haydock Park in 1965. From 1939 to 1990 it was restricted to three-year-old fillies only. The race was upgraded to Group 2 status in 2004.

Rose of Lancaster Stakes - Group Three
The Rose of Lancaster Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs and 120 yards (2,121 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in August. It was first run in 1986 and upgraded to Group 3 status in 1989.   National Hunt Races: Betfair Chase
The Betfair Chase is a Grade 1 National Hunt horse race in the United Kingdom for five-year-old and above horses. It is run over a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in November. There are eighteen fences to be jumped in the race. The race was introduced in 2005, and with prizemoney totalling £200,000 for the 2006 race, it has already become the fourth most valuable chase of the season, behind the Grand National, Cheltenham Gold Cup and Queen Mother Champion Chase, and equal with the King George VI Chase. It is sponsored by the online betting company Betfair, and is the first leg of the Betfair Million series. The second leg is either the King George VI Chase at Kempton or the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, and the final leg is the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Any horse which can win all three legs will win a £1,000,000 bonus prize. Kauto Star won this prize in 2006/07 by winning the King George and Gold Cup as well as the Betfair Chase.

The Peter Marsh Chase is a Grade 2 National Hunt horse race in the United Kingdom for five-year-old and above horses. It is run over a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in January. It is a limited handicap chase. There are eighteen fences to be jumped in the race.

Champion Hurdle Trial
The Champion Hurdle Trial is a Grade 2 National Hunt hurdle race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above horses. It is run over a distance of 2 miles (3,219 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in January. There are eight hurdles to be jumped in the race.

Rendlesham Hurdle
The Rendlesham Hurdle is a Grade 2 National Hunt horse race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above horses. It is run over a distance of 2 miles 7 furlongs 110 yards (4,727 metres) at Haydock Park Racecourse in February. There are twelve hurdles to be jumped in the race. Prior to 2006 it was run at Kempton Park, with a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) from 1988 to 1992, and 3 miles 110 yards (4,929 metres) from 1993 to 2005. It was transferred to Haydock Park when Kempton Park was closed for redevelopment in 2006 and remained there in 2007. It was run as a limited handicap between 1995 and 2001.

Left-handed oval, galloping, 1m5f round, with 4 1/2f run-in.

Effect Of Draw:
In 5f and 6f races on soft ground high numbers have an advantage.

National Hunt:
Left-handed, flat and galloping. Drop fences and long run-in on chase course. Old hurdle course suits gallopers; new course much sharper. Ciruit 1m5f.
